New Chap Purchase - Discounts now?

Hi,
Looking to purchase new, a 23' or 25' Chap Suncoast in NJ. Anyone happen to know the current discount I can ask for off MSRP? One is a showroom boat.

learning something new here, I did not know there was a current discount to ask for? When I purchased my boat I just offered and the dealer countered...

The Suncoast models seem to have only about a 10% margin over the invoice, whereas other boats/brands often have 25-35%.

See what you can do . . .

Years back I sold new cars. The dealer cost included an admin fee and pre delivery inspection, keep in mind this was 40 years back and that cost was $1000. I'm thinking the dealers do the same today but adjusted for inflation, lol.

Now for my offer for the new boat, I bought it in 2014 and was the end of the year so the dealer wanted to clear out his inventory. I traded in an older boat with a bad motor. As I recall I offered about %10 off his asking price and it was already discounted due to end of year. He accepted and the rest is history. I looked at the new boat as a once in a life time purchase.

There are no rules about what to offer (you know). As the others have said, some of what the dealer makes may be baked into the invoice amount. Just be aware that there is not a huge margin on these boats as opposed to some other boats.

You could certainly start at 20% off MSRP and see how that goes.

Every purchase and dealer /seller is different . You have to start someplace in the bargaining process. Go in at 15 % under list and take it from there. Not that hard to barter and expect to end up 10 to 5 % under list. It all depends on the dealers floor plan , tax time , how his sales/season has been going monetary wise , mark up ect.
