OK, new Class Action Lawsuit on it's way and maybe we can all get in on it.

Just seen on tv where someone has filed a class action lawsuit because of the Janet Jackson episode at the halftime show.

Come on people. Have we sank that low to file suit against any and all things we don't like or approve of?

I did not catch it all, but part of it was because of some type of injury.
What were they doing when it got exposed?

I think it's just sick when people can sue for anything and at anytime.

No wonder Doctor's insurance is so high.

No wonder our insurance is so high.
They have to be able to pay for all the useless lawsuits out there.

Just my .02 worth and I'm done.

If our system made the losers of frivolous suits pay the respondent there wouldn't be so many of them.

Ditto's and don't forget a percentage of the total sum sued for to come out of the slime's pocket for taking on the case!

SBN
My father in law was a orthopedic surgeon and even though he had never been sued, the malpractice insurance got so expensive he had to quit, and just do regular MD and L&I claims.

Theres them family values Ryan. What a way to express something on a family sight. You're still a minor right?

By the way Ryan, I'm not attacking you. Well, ya, I guess I am. I mean nothing by it though. Its just the equal rights type deal that gets me. Some can talk about other memebers and bash them over their "style" of communication and then commit it themselves and think nothing of it.

Link I know what your saying.
Over there in my neighbor state of West Virginia, the doctors are leaving there in herds because of the price of mal-practice insurance.
KB wrote;
And it took you how long KB to pick up on that? :D
J/K KB.

Been knowing it for a while SBN. I didn't want to point it out for fear of retaliation. I don't always agree with the admin here but I do agree its their world and I understand we play by their rules. Some folks always seem to jump up and see how fast they can get behind an mod. I think its great that one of those people will soon see what its like to have a one of their replies being questioned.

Ryan,

You are lost in the attempt to be clever, and you have again missed the point. It is important to think of both sides of an arguement before you comment. Time and maturity will one day allow you to understand. I hope.

It seems like the moral issue over Jacksons action is being missed.

When an adult exposes themselves to a minor, it is an offense. Most states have this law. When this happens in our communties, the adult gets charged for it and then is labled as a pedifile. These actions are taken seriously in most communities.

The act Jackson and Timberlake did on TV was morally wrong.

We limit what products can be advertised, anything to do with the sexual desires/needs of an adult should not be on public TV.

I believe in the out of sight, out of mind idea. It does work. Anti-smoking/drug ads are another that I feel get our teens curious about the products. Advertising sells, even if it is negative. JMHO

Re: New Class Action Lawsuit

I think I have finally figured out what is wrong with this world. With the pending Congressional investigation over the unimaginable actions of Janet Jackson, it has finally dawned on me...

Back in the good old days, women were encouraged to buy formula in cans, boil glass bottles on the stove to sterilize them, and feed their children the morally acceptable way.

Nowadays, women are actually encouraged to expose their bare breasts to the very youngest of infants, thereby permanently corrupting them from the very earliest of ages. How utterly disgusting, and a congressional inquiry is long overdue.

One thing I do not understand in this whole deal.
In Europe where I lived for some time bare breasts on tv and on the beach are quite common and nobody gets excited (well some do).Violence on tv is definitely frowned upon and violent crime is only a fraction of what it is here. What should I think of that??

Re: New Class Action Lawsuit

Please everybody stop trying to discribe this event as some kind of moral and social statement..

It was a stunt, designed to generate titilation for the release of Janets new CD. To make money at the expense of a majority of america's views, and in violation OF THE LAW!!! Call a boat a car does it change the fact it still a boat?

Plywoody, what are you thinking??? Urination is a natural act, maybe you should take up the cause to allow people to relieve themselves anywhere they want. Modesty is a uniquely human quality. But if you think lowering ourselves the same level as animals is a step forward, then you have lost your humanity. Janet didn't expose herself for the purpose of maternal necessity, she did it to provoke a sexual response. She chose a venue that is directed at families with young and old watching. Do you see a difference? Do you think that this is appropriate for small children? You seem like a smart man, as does rolmops, do you not appreciate the difference of the separate acts you described in your previous posts in relation to this act?

It was a stunt.
Was it planned? Of course.
Should she have done it? Of course not.
It's just a breast, for crying out loud. People will get over it.
There were worse things in the stupid commercials.
We live in a free society, and at times things happen that some don't like. Deal with it.

PW,

I hope you are just as flip when the pass the constitutional amendment against gay marriage. I doubt it though...

QUOTE:
It was a stunt, designed to generate titilation for the release of Janets new CD. To make money at the expense of a majority of america's views, and in violation OF THE LAW!!!

You never answered when you will strike up the cause for public display and broadcast of the male end of this equasion. We are a county of laws right? I am really interested in your specific position on what is inappropriate if anything.. I find it interesting how it is our responsibility to "get over it" ie: not discuss it. What are the offenders responsibilties? Apathy is an open invitation to anarchy.

FYI any answer you give will define you as a prude in 20 years. Just think about it.

And I would hope that the law does deal with it!

JB,

I like that idea.

The only people that stand to benefit from lawsuits like that are the law firms that start it. Naturally they always hide behind the "victims". If this case were to be settled for $1 Billion, typically the law firm would get, at a minimum 35% or $35M. I believe that is the idustry norm, it might be 45%. The 86 million people who were "vicitimized" would receive aproximately 75 cents a piece (assuming the 35%).
