working with a 74 mercruiser 120. #4501841 . from what I've read, the shutter has .changed designs. I haven't been able to find any info about the brackets that hold it in place. can I still use the original oem brackets or do I really need the new brackets?. the brackets look fine, just missing the shutter flapperk

I thought there was just one kind you can get.
They use the existing brackets.
The brackets might not be available so be careful.

sorry internet has been down for days. nice thunderboomer that came off lake Michigan, blew the transformer at the end of my driveway. 1:00 in the morning.. thought the Russians were coming! blew the whole top of the pole off. justifying my big dollar purchase of the power conditioner to the admiral.

anyway having not serviced any shutters in the past. read somewhere researching parts for this boat, which i don't remember (CRS) where, that the shutters were redesigned. some years back. finding a shutter and brackets was not a problem. just not sure if they fit the new stuff. will let ya know when part arrive if they fit.
