Now that it seems that every man older than 40 has ED we are seeing more commercials for the newest in treatments for this problem, They now have a deodorant for men that has the strong ED medicine mixed in. Problem is the deodorant comes in a can which is similar in color to a popular ladies deodorant. This one guy discovered his ED deodorant was used up after only a week and couldn't figure out what happened so he asked his wife..She told him to "shut up and get his *** in the kitchen and fix her breakfast"......lol

The "biggest" haha cause of ED are smoking and eating foods with a high salt content ie sausage, bacon etc. Also foods, drinks with a high sugar/alcohol content IE: Beer, honey, candy etc. But any foods/drinks you eat/drink can make it happen. If you suddenly have ED then take note of the foods and drinks consumed that day. I have found that Coors lite has no effect on me but others beers do, for example. For some reason eggo waffle have have a negative affect on me. Too much caffeine will do it. Just become aware of your diet in relation to your problems before you run off to the doctor. I don't know if you can reverse the damage that smoking as done without taking the blue pill.
Some people would rather take a pill than change their eating and drinking habits. You are what you eat is so true

I am saying if you have a problem with permanent or occasional ED then those things may be the problem. Smoking narrows all your arteries--from your big brain all the way down to your little brain, which can restrict blood flow and nerves over time. Salt also effects blood flow. Sugar has a bad effect on the libido. I guess it depends on your priorities :)

Hogwash, DC. If you are going to offer medical advice here you need to present the credentials that qualify you.

Nowhere did I claim to be a Doctor LOL I am not telling people to take some kind of drug or avoid medical attention. I am advising people to eat healthier and not to smoke. Just common sense and common knowledge, that doesn't take a medical degree. Have you ever went to a Doctor and he/she advised to you eat grease, sugar, salt and smoke?

http://health.usnews.com/usnews/health/healthday/071230/men-who-smoke-prone-to-impotence.htm

"In fact, emerging research shows that men with a pack-a-day habit are almost 40 percent more likely to struggle with erectile dysfunction than men who don't smoke.

"Smoking delivers nicotine and other vasoconstrictors that close down the blood vessels" of the *****, explained Dr. Jack Mydlo, chairman of urology at Temple University School of Medicine and Hospital in Philadelphia."

"March 6, 2003 -- Guys, if some of you wonder what's wrong in the bedroom, here's a clue. If you want to smoke in the bedroom, quit smoking. New research adds to the evidence that smoking may be a major cause of erectile dysfunction.

A study looking at the impact smoking has on a man's ability to get an erection was reported today at the American Heart Association's annual Conference on Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology and Prevention being held in Miami.

"This is not the first study to document an association between cigarette smoking and erectile dysfunction," says researcher Jiang He, MD, PhD, an epidemiologist with Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans, in a news release. But this study is unique in that it looks at other factors associated with erectile dysfunction - also known as impotence -- and was able to adjust for these factors, he says.

Both smoking and erectile dysfunction have often been associated -- individually -- with plaque build-up in the arteries, called atherosclerosis. The plaque obstructs blood flow through vessels, causing a host of circulatory problems throughout the body, such as erectile dysfunction.

In this study, researchers examined data on 4,764 Chinese men -- average age 47 -- who completed a health survey. Smoking history and quality of sexual relations were among the questions.

Among the findings:

Men who smoked more than 20 cigarettes daily had a 60% higher risk of erectile dysfunction, compared to men who never smoked.
15% of the past and present smokers had experienced erectile dysfunction.
Men who currently - and formerly -- smoked were about 30% more likely to suffer from impotence.
Among men who had never smoked, 12% had erection problems..........."

A friend went in to the doctor and told him about his bedroom problems. The doctor asks...Do you want to try cialis?
The man replied...What do you think this Alis is going to do for me that my wife Jan doesn't already do? Doc...I don't think that I need to See Alis.

I agree JB. There are multiple reasons for ED. Arthritis of the spine or a slipped disk that pinches a nerve is just one example. I know a few old rich geezers that smoke and drink and have fathered a child while in their late seventies!

If every member abides by the above reasoning when offering up advise this board will wither and die.

There are two reasons this thread could/should go away. Let's stay away from both of them okay? :)

What I get a kick out of is the actors in those commercials. The guys are fit and under 50 and the ladies are skinny and in shape. As though that's who really needs the the pills.
