Cracked block a couple years ago and changed from mercruiser 5.0 to 5.7. My current prop is quicksilver 1916p19 aluminum and is pretty chewed up. My boat is a stingray deckboat (230 ds I think). Alpha gen two.

My question is does the fact that I have newer larger engine affect wot and how should I determine which prop to get

Thanks for advice

Re: New engine needs new prop?

Test run it with your old prop, and see how many rpm's you get at WOT, and your top speed. You need 4200 to 4600 rpm, preferably 4600rpm, then if you overload it, you're good to 4200rpm. A quick short test run should not hurt anything if you overrev it a bit. Then get back to us with the data, so we can help you further. IMO, I don't think they'll be much difference. You might need a 21" pitch, but I doubt you'd need a 23" pitch?

Re: New engine needs new prop?

Thanks for advice. Finally got boat in water and sitting tied off at an island while my boys explore. I think I can hear them fighting...

By rpm at wot look to be about 4600-4700. My speed is only 35mph.

Thanks for the advice

Re: New engine needs new prop?

Boat is in water and i do not have pic. I have looked at some posts/pics of props and mine does not seem as impressive. THere a few dings and chips from battle scars. Have had boat for 5 years and have had same prop. It seems I went about 45mph when i first got it. We keep in water and use it at least 4-5 times a week

You say you went from a 5 liter to a 5.7 liter. Where exactly did you get the 5.7 from?

pics of your prop? if it's chewed up,, it's not going to perform as it should. Doubt anyone's gonna offer suggestions without spinning a complete prop.......
