I have a 1992 20' stratos 201 pro that has a blown evinrude 200XP and am looking to replace with a brand new 07' 150. Would this be plenty of power for my tourney boat and what type of speed and acceleration could I expect. I am guessing the boat is around 1600 or so pounds. I just dont want to spend the extra coin on the 200hp model if I can hang with the 150 and still get to my fishing hole fast. Any evinrude model suggestions would be great too!

150 is enough to fish, but do you want to race. it's not going to perform like the 200. bass tourneys have almost turned into a race, with fish.

Since you have a 200 now, I suspect you will be quite disappointed because you will have an exact point of reference in the very same boat. If your going to spend the coin on NEW, why let it be a let down?

I have an old and heavy 20.5' 1978 Penn Yan Explorer (a fisherman's runabout). The boats wet weight is just about 3000. I have a 150 merc on it and find it to be perfect for me, but your needs may be different given the tourneys.

For a point of reference, whole shot is excellent, cruise at 3500-3800 at 25mph, and WOT is 40ish at 5500 rpm. Also, the engine has bazillion hours on it.

Look at the tag on the boat for maximum HP. You will be very disappointed if the 150 is at or less than 75% of that rating. In other words, if its rated for a 200 max, a 150 would be 75% of that. No enough power in my view.
