So I have been wanting a boat for awhile and finally found one. I wanted one with no interior so I can make it the way I wanted it. So I picked up this 1986 thunder craft for $75 with trailer. I figured it was a good gamble and if all else failed I could sell the trailer to get my money back with profit and give the boat away. Well so far so good. I got the engine running great and the sterndrive works ok, reverse is kinda iffy but will test it in the water this week.

The problem, when I got it the boat had been sitting in the elements for 8 months so it was soaking wet when I got it. I dried it out for a week now and ripped out the old carpet. I am wondering if the floor is going to be ok once completely dried? I don't really feel any soft spots other then around the skit storage in the hull. It will be garage kept. Do you guys think that after a few weeks of drying in the garage the floor will be ok. Thanks for any advice.

Boats rot from the bottom up. Soft spots in the deck can indicate soft and rottin stringers below. Stringers are critical to the structural integrity of the hull. The transom is the other area of concern. Core sampling of the motor mounts, transom and the stringers exposed in the ski locker would be highly advisable.
