New fishfinder mounting options?

Just got a new parker 21 se, and I am trying to mount a lowrance hds 8 on the console. I wanted to do a flush mount because I like the look, but am thinking it may be mounted too low to be ideal. Also I think the viewing angle may be too shallow to see it well and that accessing all of the buttons may be difficult. I was thinking of making a starboard frame that has more of an angle than the factory console, but don't know if it is worth doing when I could mount on top of the console itself.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of issue or any recommendations? Since I will have this setup for quite sometime I would like to have it as perfect as I can. By the way there is no t-top on the boat.
