First off, the bulb IS installed in the proper direction !! lol The old line and bulb didn't pump-up either. When I got the motor it had clear lines from the tank to the engine-mounted fuel pump. When I squeezed the bulb, gas traveled toward the fuel pump. When I let off the bulb, the fuel ran back down the line toward the tank. With the glass bowl on the bottom of the pump, I could tell that eventially it would fill.
The motor has a real lack of power at mid-top end, I am trying to determine if the fuel pump could be the culprit ?? How can I test it ? It pumps gas when I disconnect the hose.

Any advice ?????

As far as the bulb is concerned, it sounds as if you got an inexpensive type that has no check valves in it. They can be difficult.

Good luck!

I agree with them,
I just replaced the old inexpensive "generic" bulb for a new "Quicksilver" original replacement
Also you can check your motor fuel pump: unscrew it and check the gaskets and diaphragm, look for hole or leaks.
You can buy a new bulb and gaskets & diaphragm for less than $20.00 and do it yourself.
Good Luck :)
