New garmin 3210 Chartplotter

I am installing a new 3210, and the harness needs to be spliced ito the power chord, data port in, data port out. It will be in an overhead electronics box.
1- Does the antenna and the unit need their own separate power supply, or can I tie them both into a hot block on the fuse block in the electronics box?

2-What's the preferred way of binding two separate wires together? Wire nuts, tape, heat shrink, etc?

One supply connection should be good. Just watch the current limit on that circuit.
I perfer to solder wires on almost everything. It sure saves a lot of trouble shooting next season.

I installed a 3200 series and a GSD-21 sounder. I used terminal strips for the wiring connections. The power and ground terminal is on the right, and the data wiring is the strip to the left. You must power the display, the antenna, and the sounder. I fused the power going the the terminal strip, and used the supplied inline fuses for the components. It made for a nice clean instalation, ive seen alot of bad ones....
