Hey guys, I am new here and look forward to learning about my new to me boat and how to take care of her properly. I tried to do a search but couldn't find specific info for my boat. I am thinking about changing over to a stainless prop and I'd like to know what you experts think. The aluminum one now has a few dings and will cavitate and lose bite under pretty hard turns. I think I got a decent deal on her too for a 2006 Glastron GXL 205 in great condition and 30 hours for $16k. Anyways, here's the spec's. Thanks.

1) Performance issue you are trying to correct.---------------------------Nothing in particular
2) Current prop manufacturer, model, aluminum or stainless as a minimum.--3 blade, aluminum
3) Current prop diameter and pitch (required).----------------------------- 14.5x19
4) Wide open throttle RPM and speed with an average load (very helpful)----4800rpm I believe/52 mph(not gps)
5) Engine/drive make, model, year, and HP---------------------------------- MCM 5.0 carbed/220HP
6) Boat make model, year, length and weight --------------------------------2006 Glastron GXL 205/20'/3200pnds

So what do you guys think?

Re: New guy and prop question!

When going top a ss prop results can be unpredictable.See if you can find a dealer that will loan props with the understanding you will buy one. SS props are about 2 to 3 times more expensive and will cost about double to repair.
Your setup seems to be working so results from a ss may be tempered a little.
Across the board results can be a few tenths to a few mph.If you boat where hard contact may be likely you may want to forgo the ss. Then again if contact with mud or sand is likely the ss may hold up better.

Just found a pretty good deal on a like new mercury revolution 4 in 14 5/8" x 19, any thoughts on swapping my 3 blade aluminum out with it?

Re: New guy and prop question!

typically when going to a 4 bladed prop it is suggested to reduce pitch 1" .To help maintain rpm.
Again changing material and design results become more unpredictable.
The typical 4 blade will improve hole shot, stay on plane at reduced throttle with less diddling and should
improve handling around the dock.Across the board low to mid range performance should be impressive.
The drag of an extra blade may reduce wot rpm and speed.
But the more efficient ss design may temper that.
