I just bought a small 12 foot starcraft V-hull and it is setting on the oddest trailer I have seen Since I can't post photo's yet, I posted the craigslist ad with pic in a thread below.. It is an older trailer .... 60's or 70's maybe .... not sure. The trailer doesn't have the square box frame like most all boat trailers have. This trailer one is more of a cross shape - like a church cross.- The longer bottom of the cross is where the bumper hitch is. The cross part is the axel with leaf springs upside down and on top of the axel. There are a pair of tubular supports (one on each side) coming off the the wheel assembly and attaching forward to the frame. The frame support in the middle is one long square tube running the full length from the hitch to the back end of the boat. There are several rollers the boat rolls on. I don't know who made this type type of boat frame. I'd like to get more info.
Thanks ....

That was a pretty common design that a lot of trailer manufactures made for light duty boats, in fact there are several companies still making them.

I looked at your post in the craigslist thread, like I said, that is actually a pretty common light duty boat trailer under your boat, like I said, you can still buy them from several trailer companies.

Man! That is a lot of overhang!
Nice looking boat! And the trailer looks functional.
Not sure I would feel comfortable trailering with an engine mounted.
Are you required to hang Red Warning Flags on any load that extends more than 2 feet behind the Tail Lights?

The picture makes it look like the trailer stops half way down the boat. Actually the main trailer support down the center goes all the way to the back of the boat underneath. There is a roller underneath at the back end of the boat, but you can't see that from the picture. There are 4 rollers on that trailer that the keel is sitting in. I need to get the boat off that trailer so I can look at the rubber rollers to see if they need replaced. The little bunks underneath look OK visually.
Good question about the distance behind the tail lights distance !!...... I'll need to check on that ....... I want to re-wire the trailer as it wasn't a very good wiring job. Maybe I can mount another pair of lights -- like a light bar -- somehow on the support underneath where the back of the boat is.
That boat and trailer sure is light and easy to tow. You don't even know you have a boat behind you. I'm towing the boat with a 4 door Buick LeSabre ....
