I have a 17 foot aluminum semi v with a evenrude e tec 60 I had an aluminum 13.25 17 pitch on the boat it ran around 5600 rpm I wanted a little more speed I was told to go to a 19 pitch I did that and went with stainless had it out a few times it runs at 5000 rpm but it takes my boat forever to get on plan now did I do something wrong I don't understand it also takes along time for it to get the rpms up . I uploaded a pic of my boat I am hopping to get some idea what's going on I am in a bass tournament in a few weeks and woud like to get it fixed with old prop it would do 30mph with the new prop when it does get on plane it will do 33mph any help please let me know

You have learned at a cost that can't have both worlds in just one prop. More speed usually sacrifices hole shot and viceverse. If you are using that combo as seen on pic, you're extremely trimmed up. Trim it down as to have combo running paralell to water level when on plane, provided that you have a well balanced deck weight.

If 5600 was the max wot rpm with current factory delivered prop, dump all the extra weight, as solo boating lightly loaded and check if top speed and wot rpm increased a bit. Usually need just one less or one more pitch to bump wot rpm towards max wot range on light to medium light applications. Only water testing at wot with a healthy tach will tell...

Sometimes it's a bad and costly idea to follow someon's word of mouth recommendations, you have 250 rpm loss per pitch. A 18 pitch would have been more suitable, but probably unavailable unless you modify a 17 or 19 pitch.

Happy Boating

Looks like you proved out that a 17p is correct for that boat and engine combo.

Ok so I think I'm going to try and return it but is there that much of a difference in performance between stainless and aluminum

What's the max wot range of that 60 Etec ? Return the 19, it's useless on that application. Max speed on any engine will have a limit. It's like wanting my 18 HP to run at 25 Km/H when can oly top out at 22 no matter what you do while running at near max revs. More Speed = Larger Engine.

Often when going to a ss prop from aluminum it is suggested to decrease pitch
Depending on the present performance.
The 17 calculates to about 29 mph The 19 for the same. But its like its stuck in overdrive.
Do you have the gps with the 17 and 19.
Trade the 19 for a 17. Might squeeze a little more speed.

Your rpm range is 55 to 6000 rpm with 60 hp being made at 5750 .This is right out of the factory manual.Personally id go to a 15p al. prop and bump the revs closer to 6000.Your hole shot will be much better also. You rev limiter is at 6250 and ive never hit ti yet with my 15 p which preforms better than the 17p on my etec 60 though I loose a mile and hour or 2 but that's the price you pay.
