try rigging a garden hose to the water tube to see if it will flow through the block.

there is a little plastic nipple on the block that the water discharge rubber hose attaches to???? so if i try and push water back thru there into the water jacket??? is that what you mean... then i should see water come out down at the intake ...correct?

Did you have the drive pin for the impeller in place?

Try the garden hose rick after checking the drive pin and making sure that the pick-up tube is in correctly. Is the lu submerged in a sufficient amount of water-about 3/4 the wa up the lu?

the drive pin is in place... and the pick up tube is seated... i thought i had enough wate... it was about 3 inches above the intake vents...

nwcove is talking about attaching a garden hose to the water tube that comes down from the power head. You have to do this when you have the lower unit off.

No, the purpose for using the garden hose on the water tube is to check the water flow up through the water tube and then through the block.
Do you have water coming out of the center of the prop? If so, you probably have a plugged tell-tale, use a piece of weed wacker string and see if it is plugged.
