My brother, dad, and I recently met up with this guy we found on craigslist about a 1958 mercury mark 28 (22hp). WHen he showed us the motor it was OUTSTANDING! You would think that it had never been used. There were NO scratches on the skeg or prop, had all the parts (tiller handle ect.) and appeared like it could still have the price tag from mercury on it. So we ended up taking it home. The only problem was that a mouse had gotten inside and chewed and ruined the recoil starter but its no big deal.
SO i was wondering... what are the things that we should look for or do to this motor to get it fired up again? is there anything special about this motor that we should be aware of? i know that this motor needs a special tool to change the impeller but i dont really think we need to do that becuase thiss motor has been used so little... any ideas would be apreciated and sorry for the bad typing
