New Member 2.3 OMC

I have an 1989 20ft Blue Fin with the 2.3 OMC I/O.. I have read a lot of post on here working out the bugs on my boat, so thanks for the info! So far I've upgraded to a pertronix ignition module(9ML-141C) (Mallory YS621CV Dizzy) New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil.. It gave me fits at first, burned up a coil, burned out the button in the dizzy cap, but all is good now. I also replaced the impeller and housing(must have muffs on even when cranking the engine over, didn't know that!)... I had to replace the t-stat, and both 1.5" hoses on the engine, Couldn't find anyone that sells those, but a Dayco 71903 from Autozone has the correct bend in it, just cut it out. Had to rebuild the Rochester 2bbl, but it was straight forward and no issues since rebuild. Anyway, over the past couple weeks I have gotten pretty familiar with the OMC...And again, thanks for all the info everyone shares on here..

Sounds like you had to replace pretty much everything.

Yes, well I bought the boat as a "Good Running" boat..And for the most part it ran good on the muffs in the guys driveway..,lol
