Hi,
I feel like I just passed a Watermellon. OK, that's exaggerating. How about a small monkey.

My last straw was shreading teeth off my ring gear (30 KT wind from the North and I was North of jagged boat eating rocks). Kinda funny that a 1977 470 uses the same ring gear as a 1977 Ford Maveric w/ a 302.
I'm still laughing.........ha ha ha ............. ha

All I can say is that with an older I/O you have three choices.

Pay someone to fix it
Force yourself to fix it
Sell it

I have fixed enough. But I do have some good news, I saved a ton of time and money with all the great advice I got from guys on this part of the forum !!

I'm gonna give outboards a try for a while........ I'm sure I'll be back. Makes my work seem a whole lot easier !!
