Hey guys, hows it going. I was referred to this forum from Tinboats. I have a 1969 9.5hp. It's been sitting for several years. I just rebuilt the carb yesterday, and replaced the impeller today. It started on the 2nd pull, and purred like a kitten with plenty of water coming out of the discharge. My problem is, there is also water coming out of what looks like the bottom of the exhaust housing right on top of the lower unit. In the thumbnail is a pic of the lower unit. The arrow on the right is the separtion point for the lower unit. The arrow on the left is pointing to where water is coming out on both sides of the motor. If you were to take the lower unit off and look down on it from the top, water is coming out around the 10 and 2 position if the front was 12o'clock. Is this normal, and if not, what in the world would be causing this? Thanks for the help in advance.

Re: New member, question about 9.5hp water issue

I havent ran my 9.5 in sometime. In fact I have been away from outboards for way too long. Ok. Some water coming out is normal. The discharge is to let you know water is circulating and get some of the hot water out quick. I know you will have water coming out of the lower unit area shown, for cooling of the tower. The exhaust tower gets hot, and some water does discharge to the bottom. I will try and run mine this week.
