My name is Jon and I have spent hours and hours learning all kinds of cool stuff from this site. I was given a small flats boat with a 1995 Suzuki DT25C motor. This motor has not run in 10 plus years and was put away with low hours. Thanks to this forum I have rebuilt carbs, changed fluids, plugs, and impeller. The engine came to life on first crank and runs super. I only have one issue that I would like some advice on. Once you start the motor it will idle perfect and sounds normal and when you rev it sounds good till you start to go back to idle and you hear a intermittent knock sound. I have searched and searched but could not find a 100% answer to what it could be. Thank you in advance for any help!

Re: New member with question about dt25c knocking

I take it you are reving it on the hose and in neutral???

If so I would say it's fine. When you rev them like that (and you should not) there is no back pressure on the motor and for lack of a better word you are hearing it kinda cough or pop a little coming back down off the revs. Kind of like a lean condition.

Run it on the water and you should not hear it nock running normally.

Re: New member with question about dt25c knocking

I have motor in a trash can full of water trying to simulate as close as I can at home before trying to head out to the water. The noise I hear is with engine in neutral and free revving in this tub.
