I just bought a new Mercury 9.9 4 Stroke and I ran it in a tub of water last Saturday. I had to choke it to start it of course, and after running it for 5 min. or so, I pushed the choke in and when I increased the throttle, I would sputter and die (like it wasn't warmed up yet). Is this normal. Does it take longer than 5 min. to warm up especially if it is only 45 degrees out? Just want to know if I need to have the dealer look at it.

Thank you!

-mdmataya

Re: New Merc 9.9 4 Stroke

Thanks for the info. I thought it might just be cold and take a little longer than 5 min. to warm up since it was only 45 outside. I will just have to wait til this ice clears on the lake so I can test it out. Thanks again!

-mdmataya
