Spent the weekend in Wisconsin on the lake. Had a 7.5 gamefisher that is shot. Rented a 15hp 2 stroke Johnson at the lake. I was awesome. I am sitting the the parking lot of bass pro shop looking at new mercury motors. I was wondering if anyone had input on weather to buy a 9.9 or 15 hp fourstroke. The boat is rated at 15hp.

I think you'd be somewhat disappointed with those after your 2 stroke experience.

Yeah, I'd have to agree. 15 two stroke hp on a 10' inflatable is neck snappin' FUN!! The four stroke will give you the same speed, roughly, but the acceleration you had with the Johnson won't be there.

If it is ratd for 15hp then get a 15hp, 2 stroke is much nicer than the 4 stroke, maintenance also much less .....

Yeap! Buy any modern 15 HP 2T, the brand you preffer, stay away from old versions, will have hard time getting spare parts for. 9.9 & 15 HP are same brothers engines weighting the same, first just HP resctricted.

Happy Boating
