New motor is hard to start

Hi All,<br /><br />I bought a 2003 Merc 90 classic. I had trouble getting it running on the weekend. It seemed starved for gas. When I squees the prim ball I can hear air whistling through the vent on the gas tank. The ball never really gets hard. Any suggestions?<br /><br />thanks.

If you hear air at the vent on the tank when you squeeze the bulb then the bulb is malfunctioning or the hose is hooked up backwards. Check the arrow on the bulb. Bin there. Done that.<br /> Good Luck and Good Boating.+
