My first post here as a new boat owner, and I'm hoping someone can help.

I just brought home a "new" used 14.5' aluminum fishing boat and it came with a never fired 15hp Merc outboard. The seller told me the motor had never been mounted nor had ever been run except by the factory.

While it appears this may be true, it isn't a new motor. The tag on the motor states,

"1996 15 MH"
"6000 max rpm"
"CE 98"

and just below the CE,

"Pacemaker Reconditioned"

I can attest to the fact it hasn't been run, it's absolutely spotless, no paint off the prop, paint under the motor clamps, and looks like showroom fresh under the cover, but does Pacemaker Reconditioned mean this is a factory rebuild or ?

Unfortunately, neither the boat, motor, trailer, nor electronics came with manuals (former owner said he had them somewhere but can't locate them now) so I'm scrambling to gather information.

Do I follow the double oil procedure for break-in? Since I don't have a manual, and can't get one for a couple days, does anyone have the correct procedure to break in this motor until I can get my hands on a manual?

Guess I'll have to wait until next weekend to put it in the water. I can hear my wife now, "Patience Dear"!

Thanks for your help!
