Re: New motor

About that fast.

Not enough info. How many people, what is the max HP for the boat what's in the boat ect. There are some formulas to figure out theorectical speed but the only real way to know is GPS. Best bet is to max out the HP that's on the hull plate and that's as fast as you'll go.

Agree, read the plate for max HP and get that size.

Re: New motor

Agreed....... Check for hp max.
If it's rated for a 25hp motor, I figure it will do about 28mph with one person and about 26.5mph with 2 stout men. If it's going 28mph, it's probably right on the edge of control and not all that safe. If it's rated for a 20hp motor, the 25 will be dangerous with just one person in it; really unsafe in any kind of wind.
I'll bet a 15-20hp motor would be ideal for it, unless it has a lot of weight in the boat like decks and such. If you can't find a hull ID plate, measure the width of the boat and report back.
