Re: New oil filter

The add is for a transmission magnet. It appears to go on the outside of the case (pan) and make sure the metal does not circulate.

My cobra drive has a magnetic drain plug. When you pull it to change the fluid you look at the plug and see if there are any shavings. Wonder how many other drives have the same thing?

If you have that much in the way of shavings in the transmission, it would sound like you have a bigger problem.

You keep right on posting Questions, pike hunter................... ;)

Actually, I found a few surplus magnets, you know, the Super Duty 1s...... They're about 3" round with an inch,+1/2 hole in the middle.........
I've got 1 hanging on the bottom of the oil filter,+ the fuel filter,+ around the base plug on my 4.3LX..........

Matter of fact, I've got them hanging on All my motors............
Does it Help, ?? Don't Know........
I Do know it Doesn't Hurt............... ;)

Re: New oil filter

pike dont be put off asking questions, as with all aftermarket things you have to ask yourself if there it was such a big problem why wouldnt the manufacturer come up with a solution and second how does everybody else manage. I try and run my motor following all the guidelines set by the manufacturer and using their recommended parts. So far I have had no problems that includes having a car run to 375K miles (Taxi) on a 1.7 litre diesel engine managed without a filter magnet. if you want it as bondo says it sure wont hurt.
