Re: New Orleans Jazz Festival
Naw, I used to go, but it has become a bit much for me. It was pretty cool when the tickets were 20 bucks and the food was only slightly offensive in price, but I've been enough times that $60 tickets pretty much turn me off.
For those of you who have never been, however, I can see it being worth the price - especially if you are not from New Orleans. For those of us who are, many of the local acts are people we have seen for years.
BTW, if anyone is going this weekend and is looking for a locals joint to eat in, after the show, try Coop's on Decatur Street. Its on the lower end of Decatur, right across the street from Margaritaville. Coop (Jeff Cooperman) serves until the wee hours, usually until at least 1:00am. The food is what I call "tourist cajun." Its not really authentic cajun, but its close and its good. Pricing is on the lower end of moderate. Coop is also an avid fisherman, so the redfish you eat there, might have been swimming that morning. If you see a stocky, dark haired guy at the bar, with a bulldog at his side (yes, we have dogs in restaurant/bars here), that's Coop. Tell him one of the locals sent you - he'll charge you the same price!
