I have inherited an old boat, I believe it is a 1980 Bayliner Santiago Cuddy cabin. It runs well but as all old boats it needs some work and I want to replace some of the parts I am not confident in. My problem is it seems to be a scavenger hunt finding parts. What I really need right away is an owners Manuel, Electrical Wiring Diagram, Engine Manuel (I didn't write it down but I think it is a Mercruiser 898), and a parts Manuel for the boat. Does anyone have one or know where I can order them from? Bayliner only has stuff online back to 1995, although I did request the one for my boat be added or sent to me. And I found nothing on E-bay

Thanks

A big WELCOME Ted!!

The manual you will really need is for the engine and outdrive combination and they are available. Verify what you have and Google it or ask your local marine supplier.

One of your best resources is right here at iboats. There are a number of different sections depending on your area if interest. One is the red search at the top of the page. It is a search engine and will retrieve posts related to what you entered as a search arguement.

You will probably have a tough time finding a manual for the boat and further I doubt that you will need one. I haven't had one in 35 years of boating. Electrical is the same way. Many boats are wired by the dealer as the buyer specifies the engine and instruments he wants.

I highly recommend This Old Boat and Sailboat Hull and Deck Repair by Don Casey. It's mostly stuff about sailboats, but these are live-aboards that spend their days and nights in saltwater, and this guy knows his stuff about keeping them up. The best descriptions about work with fiberglass of any I have seen.

There is another book entiltee Runabout Renovation...that is OK, but does not compare to the Casey books.

Have fun.
