I bought the 1994 or now you know it is a 1991 superfisherman with a bad motor. I knew that going in so the boat was in great shape just had one cylinder that was 25lbs low in compression. I found a guy up in the WI dells that is giving me a heck of a deal!!! A completely refurbished by mercury in Appleton a 1986 150 hp merc v6. New everything, pistons, rings, etc. He will swap out mine and put on the new one all for 1800.00 plus my motor. I think this is a heck of a deal. He also does not mind waiting till the end of march or beginning of april. Great for me because I do not want to take her out in the salt. So what do you guys think? deal? I already gave him a deposit so I am committed. It is a 20 inch shaft size so this should be the right size as well. Oh yeah he is throwing in the extra oil tank as well. I think I will get a long life out of this. I hope that this series is a good motor.

Next question. where can I look up the original spec's on a 1991 superfisherman 19'?

I would like to know gas tank size for sure, The max hp is 135 so I am ok there. But other stuff like what were any available options and stuff.

Thanks in advace for your responses, Bob

I'm not that familiar wth mercs but I hear parts on older motors can be difficult to find. Also you said you were buying a 150 but then you said that the max HP was 135. Typo? If not, going over the max HP is not a good idea.

Same block just different carburation and tuning . Same weight and the 15 hp should make no difference .The newer boats state more alowable HP anyway. Don't see a problem there.

I ended up with a 135 and it is a 6 cyl. The 100hp is a 4 banger. It is essentially a new motor remand by merc itself. so parts must not be a problem. They did everything including the oil injection. The only thing reused was the case! The max hp for the boat is 135. I gave up on the 159 hp idea.
