So, after lots of work on my 1998 Johnson 90hp SPL, and still having idling issues, I took it to a shop. They told me the #4 cylinder was @75# & the other 3 are at 125. Kinda surprised me because when i did compression tests on it all 4 were between 107 & 115. But I may have not been doing it correctly, or may have had a faulty guage.
I guess my question is, is a rebuilt powerhead worth the investment, or do yall think a different motor is a better choice? By different, I dont mean new. I WISH! But I can probably find a used one in my price range.

Take the cylinder head off.---Just 10 bolts.----You have a blown head gasket or the dreaded broken piston rings.----Every V-4 crossflow will suffer that fate sooner or later , yes broken rings is very , very common.
