I have a 1986 OMC 2.7 Sea Drive. I am replacing a power pack with new OMC power pack. Old power pack coil leads were discintegrating. My question is the new power pack has a 4 pin plug, a 2 pin plug and a single pin plug. On the old power pack, the single pin plug comes from the side of the motor and a lead from the power pack was spliced onto that single lead plug. This was not a factory connection. Do I need to just plug in new pack or do I have to splice lead from new pack into the lead from the side of the motor? rikk

If the spliced lead in black, yellow/stripe it has to be connected, plug it on or splice it.

Does the pack match your motor, if so should not be a problem. Just match the wire colors.

Thanks Clanton. New pack is OMC brand and numbers match. All other connections are the same. I will go ahead & splice leads & hope it works. rikk
