New problem with my 1057 10hp Johnson

Ok, so I got the motor finally tight and right. Running good. However when testing it, there is now oil leaking from where i disconnected the lower unit when I replace the water impeller. What did I do?

Are you sure it is gear oil? Or is it just unburnt fuel/oil mix? Often mistook for gear oil, but very common to see on 2 stroke motors. Should be running out of the weep holes in the gearcase when you pull motor out of water, but if they are plugged, might be looking for other places to exit.

regardless, crack the drain screw on the gearcase to see if water comes out.

OK looking at it im pretty sure i ruined the top seal when the drive shaft came out because it was stuck in the power head. So I got the old one out and will have to get a new one on the way.
