I just got my first boat and it needs a new prop, its a 90hp Mercury Force made in 1996, what is a good prop to start with? it currently has an aluminum prop (number 4877346A40 19P). I really only plan on using this boat on a small local lake and will probably only do tubing so I do not need anything advanced. Any help would be greatly appreciated because I am kind of lost at the moment

Take a ride with your current prop and note the rpm and your speed on phone gps. That will help us recommend a prop. It likely that 19 is right for tubing. Prob a 17 is you want to get into serious water skiing. What is wrong with current prop ?

Just the clarify your test ride; we need your wot(wide open throttle)rpm and gps speed remind us of your prop size 19" pitch.
Prop size is written diameter x pitch. Diameter is a secondary consideration and usually only concern is it fits properly.
If the prop is intended for your motor the diameter will be correct.
I think somewhere around 96 they started using a Merc leg.Someone may be around with that information.
