I am looking at buying a new prop and have found some good pricing here on iboats. I have a 1990 Evinrude 60 hp with a 14x13 prop. The one I have now is a Michigan and is an alum with the hub built in. It has a rubber bushing with the 13 tooth hole for the shaft all built in. It seems to be a one peice, all-in-one prop. Slide it on, put the rubber washer on, and the nut with a cotter pin and its ready. Now on here, I found a Hustler, with Hub: 3A and Prop: HU1411AO. It is a 14x11. Now is this also a all-in-one? Is this all I need to replace mine and be ready to go?? It says something about buying a second prop for the hub in case the prop is damaged. That seems to say it is a two part prop and hub. I want to make sure if I buy it I won't have to buy anything else to get me on the water. This model is like $78.98. A good price as long as it complete.

Hopefully I have the terminology right.

Thanks for any help as this is my first boat.

It use to be that you bought a prop to fit the motor. Now days, at least the last Michigan Wheel prop I bought, the hub is seperate. You buy the prop and then a hub to fit the motor.

Re: New Prop

It will still use your existing hardware(nut, cotter pin, etc....) to mount it.

Like bhile said, the difference is that the prop has been broken down into two components, the biggest advantage is reduced manufacturing cost.

Re: New Prop

Call me curious, but why are you going from a 13P to an 11P with a 60 HP engine. These pitch selections would typically be used on pontoons. What type of boat is this engine on? What are you trying to accomplish? Many newer style props will fit many different engines. To make that happen a separate hub (the drive assembly) is designed for your specific engine and can be used with many different props. since the props don't have the integrated hub, it makes the prop itself a fair amount cheaper.

This is on a 28' pontoon. I have been told by several people if I go from the 14x13 to a 14x11 I should gain some mph. Right now my WOT is only around 4500 and according to what I have found should be 5000 +, and going to a 11 pitch should get me there.
