Hello Everyone
My family purchased a used 98 Reinell 197 with the 5.7 V8, it is in excellent shape. We've had it out on the water twice now, and before the last outing I decided to change the outdrive oil because the PO recommended it. The oil was a little bit milky, but I changed the O-rings on the drain plug and dipstick hoping this would fix it. It didnt, I just drained it again and it is just as milky. I am pretty mechanical and work on all of my own vehicles, but I have never gotten my hands on a boat outdrive. I am looking for a little guidance here, What do I do next? I didnt flush out the outdrive when I changed the oil, would this make a difference? Please help, I have a 6 day houseboat trip coming up and am anticipating a lot of hours put on the boat, I wanted to get this fixed ASAP.
Much appreciated,
Dean
