Hello!

I finally purchased my first inflatable boat, and I thought I would share my thoughts on it. After searching for roughly 6 months or so I finally decided to go with the Saturn SD365. I purchased it from boatstogo. I was looking for something that was super portable and compact for storage(no garage). I found EXACTLY what I was looking for. I love this boat!

I found a 2003? Nissan 18hp 4-stroke (with a little over 10 hours on it) on craigslist for $800(a steal). It provides more than enough power for the boat.

I also bought launch wheels for the boat from boatstogo as well. Very happy with those so far.

Here's some pics. http://photobucket.com/JBmyi

Let me know what you think!

Happy boating!!!

I like the launch wheels. Of all the styles I looked at these were in the top three I thought about getting. Did you have any installation problems with this style and what did you seal the holes with after you drilled them? The bolts seem to protrude quite a bit though, I'm wondering when you fold the boat if they will cause problems?

Your engine weight must be around 118 pounds, Are you just man handling that weight yourself or using some other technique to move it around and mount it?

As far as installation goes, I didn't have any issues. I sealed the holes with 3M 5200, as I do not plan on removing the wheels anytime soon. I plan to cut off the access bolt that you see protruding. For right now, I just covered them with a thin piece of duct tape.

The engine is not too bad. Don't get me wrong...it's heavy. When I get to to where I need to launch, the motor goes from the back of my Grand Cherokee to the transom on the boat. This is where the launch wheels come in handy. With the launch wheels down, the prop still has at least 6 inches of clearance. So I really don't have to man handle it much, maybe a couple of feet at a time. Well worth the power it provides! ;)

Nice boat.

Where did you get the number plate that is attached (glued?) to the bow?

Thanks.

I got the number plate from boatnumberplate.com. I got the adhesive for it from west marine's online store. Boatnumberplate suggested using the 1 part adhesive, and it worked great.

So now that you've had the boat for over a year, what are your thoughts on the boat? I'd love to know your results, I'm looking at a SD365 myself so I'm curious as to how your year went with the boat =]

Do you have any water splashes at transom or water comming in when on plane, just for the record, the distance upper to lower transom ? Is it 15" or more ?

Nice looking boat you got there, I'm thinking of replacing my old SIB next year. I'm looking more and more at Saturns.
