When you could only receive the 12 channels on your VHF dial plus a few snowy apparitions on the UHF band, there was enough latent quality to go around.

In the 1000 channel, 24/7 broadcast world, that talent pool has been spread out to the point that it is awfully thin at the shallow end.

I was thinking more of upping the ante on the other so-called reality shows. A 'compete for your life' premise would at least rapidly cull the herd of dumbasses who'll do anything to appear on TV.

That premise can be applied to virtually every stupid show out there. Think about whichever show you hate the most, and how much more entertaining it'd be if everybody was armed. I'd love to see the entire Kardashian family wipe itself out...
