I have a 1995 Bass Tracker Pro Deep Vee 17,I want to get a new stainless steel prop.It has a Mercury 40 hp, it runs great now but would like a little bit more if possible. The boat runs 28 mph at 5500 rpm's now. Will a ss prop do anything to get a little more.Just asking before I go and spend any money for nothing. Thanks

Thats a pretty good performance for that setup.A 40 probably does something like 35 or 36 on a light fast boat.
Check out the Hustler turning point prop.Aluminum prop with close to SS performance.Usually these type props deliver overall performance improvement.I'd stick with a 17.
If your motor doesn't ventilate(cavitation) then you could probably raise it a little.Starting with the antvent plate(just above the prop) even with the bottom of the boat raise the motor with one 1/4" stick at a time to a point just before venting becomes a problem be sure it has a good grip and pumps water. One inch could gain a couple of mph.The Hustler will allow even more height.
