hey all, it is monday the 22nd and i have owned a starcraft for about 16 hours. about 5 years ago i seen an old starcraft aluminum v bottom boat and fell in love with it. something about the lines the wide side rails and the size. since then i have been looking for a 70's model starcraft. finally success! i bought an 18ft. sprint v with an 85 hp evinrude. going to pick it up tonight. my lack of finding a one for soo long tells me either that they were all junked. or they are soo good that eveyone that has one wont get off it. through out the forums i have found alot of islanders. ss's and open bows but not alot of sprints. what do you attribute that too? can't wait to start the restore and will be looking to "pick the collective brain of the STARMADA on the forums"

Where are you located? That will have a lot to do with how many SC's you see for sale. Here on the west coast they are fewer and farther between but still can be had. They also bring more of a premium price out here than say in the mid west or east coat for that matter. But welcome to the fleet and have a good fun and safe time with yout boat.

Dpty--

welcome to the madhouse (or was that funhouse? primate house? ....?)

the only reason people scrap a Starcraft is lack of imagination or a Titanic-style tear in side....tin hull lasts forever, but you may become good at plywood work and wiring. and when you're done, you'll have a boat that people will think is far cooler than any modern disposaboat....and is fast and gets great fuel mileage.

you do know that the zombies around here moan "PICTUUUURES!" instead of "BRAAAAINS!"?

Wow you waited 5 years to get the rig, you must be pretty happy right about now:D

I remember when I bought my SS about a year ago. Could've told me the world was ending and I couldn't have cared less. Ear-to-ear grin for at least two days;)

The Sprint model is rare, probably because they were only made for a few years, wheras the SS, Holiday and Islander models were cranked out for many many decades with minimal design changes.

It means that your boat is somewhat rare, and that's pretty cool to me.

Welcome aboard, you will find us to be an impatient(when it comes to photos), rowdy and generally helpful group of maniacs that share your love of tin:)

While we're posting links to appropriate heavy metal videos I might as well add to the fun.

Yesterday sunshine, 74 degrees. Today high of 73 and sun. Welcome to Va. Congrts Dpty and Welcome. I would mention pics but I believe you are getting the idea. Don't make them mad, they still haven't found the body of the last guy that refused to post pics.
You have a lot of company in Mich, but then again they are closer too, so be careful. Looking forward to your ideas and work. We are here to help.

Dpty, don't be nervous or scared. Even though we have your location and the guys are assembling down the street you still have time to post pics. Keep calm and take good pics but don't waste a minute. I'm not sure if the doughnuts will hold them off for long........
