New Suzuki tachometer

I purchased a 2005, DF115 and am about to intall a Suzuki 94200-99E01 multi functional tachometer. I also purchased the wire harness 36682-92E00. My question is does the end of the harness go all the way to the engine to plug in or is there some hook-up along the cable going to the controls. If it does go all the way to the engine where is the plug in located at.

the instrument has its own cable,its a grey colored plug under the motor hood,if you stand in front of it,the plug is down to the right,it has 4 wires,look at the colores on the instrument cables on the white plastic plug
