So I'm going to tear out all (what little there is) of the wiring in my boat, non engine related wiring that is. Including the two junky switches on the dash. I'm going to replace it all with a nice 8 switch panel with fuses built in. It's a small outboard, 15 or 16 feet. Still I look forwards to "going crazy" fixing it up and 'enhancing' it. Starting with new LED nav lights. So I thought long and hard about it, and this is what I came up with for my switch wiring. I wouldn't be doing this all from the start, far from it. Most of these switches are long term projects. But ultimately this it what I'd like to have, this is every possible thing I can think of for my small little boat. Thoughts?

Note: It's not overkill! I'll admit to borderline overkill, but that's it.

Re: New Switch Panel

Nothing really wrong with it (I'd like to see your engine room...), but you will only need one switch for you bilge pump. The float will turn the pump on automatically if you get water in the bilge, you'll only need the manual switch.

I've had issues with auto pumps getting stuck on in the past. And they have three wires anyway so I figure I have the switches, might as well wire them both up so if the pump starts busting my balls again, I can just turn the auto switch off and hit manual if any water gets in there.

Don't be diss'n my engine room!! hah. A lot of the lights on my list are very low priority, and thing I'll only add if I find myself wanted to do a lot of night time boating.
