New Tach.. settings? Merc 135

For a 73 Merc 135 inline 6..is 6-2 the right setting? Thats where I have it, and its seems to read a bit high according to my ear..new NOS off Ebay, but I might have to check it againt a good one. See pic..thanks..

12 pole Position 5 is correct Some tachs have pule which would be 6 pulse.

Far as I know, its 6 pulse motor (I'm crap about electrics)
So instead of 6 I set it at 12? Actually it seems way out of line to my ear at 6-2.. what seems like a good low idle is showing 12-1500...I'll try it. Still breaking it in, only been in the water once

12 pole = 6 pulse on your Mercury.
