New Ted Williams trolling motor

I have a Ted Williams/Sears trolling motor that is brand new, still in the original plastic wrapper. I know that it is at least 30 years old but have no idea what it is worth.

Anyone have a sense of its value?

Well without any other information, it is hard to say for certain. Ted Williams was one of the names Sears cntracted out for cpmanies like either Minn Kota and/or Motor Guide to make for them. But even new, there is no warranty with it. So if it works great, and it really should, you can sell it for a nominal price knowing there is no warranty going with it. However, some folks need something simple and economical for their smaller boats if the price is right. That price depends on if it is a tiller handle controlled setup and the speed options it has. JMHO

Something is always worth what someone will pay for it. To you this obviously has no value.

It has a tiller handle and a variable speed knob.

I'll put it on Ebay see what a Red Sox fan with fond memories of Ted and a desire to tie it to their time on the water thinks.. Thanks for the input.

DJSINGER, I didn't think or state that it has no value. I think it does have some value and let others make their bid on it.

Do you know how much thrust it puts out?

The only listed TW motor sold on ebay went for less then $30.

I doubt the one listed in Michigan for 175 will find any buyers. The rest are listed between 30 and 70.

I sort of doubt that a baseball fan will bid on it based.on the TW reference but ya never know.

Its not a rare or exceptionally old trolling motor, and IMO, new in the wrapper doesnt translate to being a valuable collectable either.

Just as some older boats and older motors, old and even rare, doesnt make them exceptionally valuable. A few are valuable, most are not, they are simply older boats and motors.

Doesnt mean they cant be used or enjoyed, there just isnt a big payday coming to the seller.......

Where did you get the TW?

If its been in your family since new, IMO, its worth much more hanging on to it.

If you bought it, then I hope you didnt over pay looking to make of a profit.

My comment wasn't meant as an insult, those motors just don't have much value. There is lots of stuff on the boating/fishing market with his name on it, not the highest quality stuff either.

The biggest downside is that most old trolling motors have low thrust. The cheapest/smallest trolling motors today usually have more thrust Than the most powerful old ones did.
