I just installed a Teleflex tach. I connected the wires and then test started the motor. The tach worked fine and showed motor idling at around 1000-1100 rom.
I disconnected the wires to route the wires behind the helm etc and reattached the wires.....now the tach won't "zero out". The needle stays on about the 800rpm mark. I checked to make sure wires are on the correct posts...and they are.
I test fired the motor again. The needle starts to drop below the 800rpm as I'm cranking the motor and the motor starts firing...then goes up as the actual rpms are going up.
Aside from the "not zeroing out" thing, The tach "seems" to be accurate as the motor idles cause it was showing the same 1000-1200rpm when the tach was working the first time.
What could be causing it not to '"zero out" all of the sudden?
