hello
well I guess the most special will be to remember to correctly mix the gas/oil. next is why do you wish to remove the vro? then plug off the oil line and remove the alarm connector from the pump and remove the oil tank and wiring.
other than that its fairly simple

Re: New to board - QUESTION PLEASE

After you disconnect the oil hose ,you'll need to securely cap or plug it off so the pump will not injest any air.Next disable the low oil level alarm leads under the engine cover at their connectors and secure the loose ends. Then, disconnect the vro alarm amphenol connector under the engine cover and secure it as well. This will disable the no oil alarm .After mixing at 50:1 in fuel tank ,disconnect the fuel inlet to the vro pump and pump primer bulb until you can detect a hint of the two cycle oil color you previously mixed in the fuel tank. This will prevent any lean run when initially starting the engine.

After all of this is complete its a good idea to test the overheat sensor to insure that its circuit is operable. With the key in the "on" position (engine not running)locate and ground the tan lead from the temp sensor which us located at the top of the head cover.Alarm should sound.

Re: New to board - QUESTION PLEASE

Thanks guys.

The reason I want to dissconnect the VRO is I have very little storage in my boat. I also don't trust the older VRO systems. The guy I bought the boat from put a new 2-gallon tank under the "small" center console and ran the tubing through the hull. He did a good job but I need space for PFD's and other stuff. I don't mind mixing the oil. It's probally safer this way anyway. Thanks again.

If I understand, just dissconnet the hose and plug it up. Then start with the alarms. After done, Mix the gas/oil and make sure I see the oil in the gas through the filter. My filter is clear and mounted less than a foot from the motor.

There is a very good discussion of VRO removal in the Engine FAQ section.
