New to boating need some help

I just bought a 1979 slickcraft 24ft 351w omc. The omc out drive has 5 L on it, dont know if that the model or not. I have several major problems so any help would be appreciated. The out drive will not tilt or turn left or right. just makes clicking nose when you try to tilt it. I would take it to marine shop but it is stuck down and will drag if i tow it. . Any ideas would be helpful.

Whoops:facepalm: ... I typed a post out and then realized that I read the model year wrong. Your drive is completely different than mine, so I would have led you astray. Sorry 'bout that.

Dsiconnect the rams from the drive and hoist it up.

Ayuh,... He's got a Stringer drive, Not a Cobra....

umm 5.l would be a 302? my 5.8l is a 351 other then that there should be a black plastic thing to the right of the engine if your looking out the back of the boat it has a screw in it should be flat head have bubba lift the outdrive when you screw it out once its up tighten it. i believe that is how you would get the drive up, incase you can't accualy fix the trim/tilt yourself its called a manual release or something..
