On a pontoon I like a four stroke so either the 60 or 75 is fine with a nod toward the 75 if you will be pulling water toys. I prefer a two stroke on a go fast boat.

+1^^^ The difference in fuel efficiency between 60-75 is small.

If that barge is only twenty inches long I think all of those motors will be too big. Sorry, couldn't resist!:p I agree with the guys. Biggest you can afford. By the way, given your username I assume you're south of MD line. Can you dial that in a little? I ask because we're working on a get together and would be honored if you were able to join us.

So the 4 stroke 75 would be my best best?

Being that it is only 1k more over the 60 bigfoot i would be more than happy to get it if i am gonna be able to really tell the dif.

How much more power/Mph can i expect from the 75 over the bigfoot?

Hard to say "Rebel", but I'd think 3-4 mph more. Not sure about the 75-4-stroke, but the 75 Optimax is a larger family of engines w/ a good bit more torque for when you have a larger load aboard. Thats where you'll notice the biggest difference. Good luck !!!

Anyone else have any input?

I am leaning to the 4stroke 75 but i want to make sure tis the best option from people who know what they are talking about like the fellas who have posted already.

Does anyone have a similar setup to the 20ft toon with either of these motors?

P.S

Sorry if i seem in a hurry but we are going friday to spec it out and have it ordered. I hate we are going to have to order it but the only ones they have instock all have carpet and we are going with the coastal package with the rubberized nonslip floor covering.

Re: New to boats and this my surprise you but i have a motor question

I don't have any specs for you rebel, but generally speaking the four stroke will give you better fuel economy and run a little quieter but will come with a higher maintenance burden, while the Opti will give you better hole shot and maybe a little more speed (can't say for sure on the speed) than the four stroke but burn more gas. I'd say the main factor in your decision should be how you plan to use it. If you'll mainly be cruising and trolling you'll probably be better of with the four stroke; quieter and cleaner and happier at lower RPMs for extended periods but still enough guts to get you off the water quickly if necessary. On the other hand, if you envision a lot of water sports and a desire to get to a spot quick you'd probably be happier with the Opti. In the end it's a question of happier, not happy, because you'll be happy with either motor. Which one will you be happier with? That's ultimately up to you.
