trying to find out what year and model my johnson 85hp motor is ? it says on engine cover 50th anniversary edition does anyone know?

Before we guarantee a year on cowl alone, what is the model number of the motor?

not sure where do i find it at ,it is definitly an early seventies i think

Look on the transom clamp for a 1x2 tag, if removed, the welch plug. About the size of a quarter on the powerhead.

If it has the correct hood on it, it's a 1972.

ok good i was on fiberglassics web page and it led me to mfg boats brouchure page and it looks like the boat maybe a 72 as well thank you

Double check with the model number though, as Boobie stated, that is IF it has the proper cowl. Believe it or not, some fellows have been known to throw any old cowl on a motor. I have bought a few with incorrect cowls.
