Hey guys, just a three months ago I had bought a 1963 16'Mark Twain with a 75 hp Johnson. And just yesteday I sold it and bought a 1968 Mark Twain with an I/O.
I took it out on the lake and "oh what a feeling!" This thing runs like a champ. The power difference from the other boat is like night and day. I still can't believe this guy sold this baby to me for $600. It was taking up his entire two car garage up and he needs to put a Trans Am in it. So he can drop a new engine in it. The neighborhood asso. won't let him keep it outside.
But now that I have it I need to know a couple of things. Where is the model number for the motor? I I know its a Mercruiser with four spark plugs and a big ol' propeller. Does Climers make a manual for this? Or is there another brand of manual to look for? YOur help would be greatly apreciated. ;)

Re: new to I/O need help

Here are the numbers I found -
model - 16-120 deluxe
boat # - 2488-8
motor - 2421128
Does this help, There is also a number on the motor block itself. It is 39950. The oil recommended on the manifold is Kiekhafer formula 4 oil, so which oil is that in Wal-Mart terms. The alternator belt looks to be in really sorry shape, but it looks like a real mule to change. Is this belt suppossed to be as tight as the one in my car? This one seems to be really loose. Sorry for the barrage of questions, but like I said, I am new to this stuff. Thanks... :D
