I recently acquired a 1971 6 HP model 6R71G and I have a couple of questions. I have done some research but haven't been able to find answers to my questions. Hope you guys can help.
1. The starter rope is frayed really bad once you start getting close to the end that is attached to the motor. It rolls up on a grooved vertical spool and it appears that it has to be a certain diameter to fit into the grooves that run up and down the spool. Anyone know what size rope I need to get it to fit in these grooves. Also, any advice on how to install it would be appreciated as well as where I can purchase one.
2. The motor doesn't have a pee hole, only an exhaust port on the back of the housing above the waterline. The manual says that a fine mist should be coming out of this port. I am only used to newer motors with a pee hole so could someone tell me how much water should be coming out of this port.
3. I will probably go ahead and replace the impellor. How much work is involved in this and any pointers would be greatly apppreciated.
Thanks
