New to me 1991 T9.9ELRP need help starting.

Hello, my name is Mike. I bought this 9.9 at an auction and all I know is it has compression. This is a remote motor, and I am in a need of a way to start this so I can test it and repair it. I do not have a remote for this, or a tiller. Is there a way to start this with out the remote or a tiller? Any help is appreciated.

No expert with your outboard but was hoping the service manual might tell you how the ignition worked. Hope another with more expertise shows up

Should have a start relay on the motor that you could hook up a momentary start button to,
but need to rig up a way to kill it before starting or you will be having to just run it out of fuel by disconnection fuel line .
And that will take a long time before it dies.

Manual should help find the relay and wires needed to hook to.

Thanks, for all the help. Looks like I will have to do a little digging in order to figure this out. Im still trying to figure out whether I want to keep it as a remote or tiller. Thanks again for the links.
